Man it is Week 10 already. I can’t believe it. I will say those stupid back to school commercials are reminders that summer is coming to an end. I hate those commercials. All those kids in the commercial look so happy. I was definitely not that happy when the summer was over. I will say that I do like the onset of fall: Hoodies, jeans, the feeling of cold air hitting your face while you are riding your bike down the bridge. But wait lets not get into that yet. Lets embrace what is NOW Week 10 of Twelve Weeks of Summer Raging! I apologize for not having this message out yesterday but this week kicked my butt. We played Nashville, Baltimore, Brooklyn and ended with San Francisco. First let me say NASHVILLE was crazier than I ever expected. We’ve only played Nashville a few times and those were great shows but they weren’t chaotic like this one. You guys know I like chaos. Sometimes you enjoy a show even more when you don’t expect it to get so out of hand. That was Nashville on Thursday night. You guys know we will be coming back on the next tour!!
The next day was Baltimore which was in some crazy building complex where we played in the middle of all these different bars and restaurants. I feel like they don’t have anything like that in Brooklyn. I love the idea you can fall out of one bar and directly into another one. That is some efficient partying. I will say Baltimore was spicy! Who knew it was going to be that hot and sticky. That was one of the shows that we left the stage to go directly to a shower. Shit speaking of that I should probably take those wet show clothes out of my bag. Hmm that’s a bit gross.
I woke up Saturday in what I will say is my favorite place in the whole world…. Brooklyn. Yes i am bias cause I live here!! It was nice to walk off the bus and know exactly where I was getting a latte at. Also liked that I was wearing my TI shirt and when I walked into the coffee shop the Barista put TI on. I knew then it was going to be a good day. So saturday was Mad Decent Block Party in Williamsburg. I was surprised there was not as much side boob as there was at Ultra but there was definitely a naked guy that was going to crowd surf but no one wanted to hold him. If you guys could only see from our point of view on the stage the guy jumping the barricade and everyone rushing away. Then jumping back over the barricade to the photo pit and all of security rushing away. Moral of the story in my eyes……. you can get away with a lot of stuff if you are naked cause no one wants to touch you! The best part was him trying to put his pants back on. It took him 2 songs!
That brings us to Sunday morning at 5am when my alarm went off. San Francisco, I will say at that moment I was not so excited to be making my way to you. It is not that I don’t love you but lets be honest I am a real bitch in the morning (especially before I’ve had my coffee) and I had only gone to bed a few hours before. I was not ready for the day. We did sleep the entire flight and once landed in San Francisco, I was super stoked to be heading to Outside Lands. It’s really a special festival in a magical park. Outside Lands was fucking awesome. Sometimes festivals have a magic to them which is EVERYTHING about that festival. The people working the stages, the security, the catering, the backstage vibes and most important the crowd. Everything was on point on Sunday! For those watching on the live stream I hope you could pick up on that. *** Dad I kept that one clean. I know you were watching! I didn’t say Vagina once!! Pretty good huh?*** One highlight was when a lot of people in the audience crowd surfed from one side to the other and all the way up the hill! It was just a good vibes type of day that ended in the company of good friends. The type of day you never want to forget.
On Monday we spent the whole day traveling back to Brooklyn which brings me to today. Sitting at home while the rain is coming down outside and writing you all this message. Damn this has been one awesome summer.
Ok now onto the good shit! Congrats to our 10 winners of an It’s Alright T-shirt. Daniel Schneider, Michael Hanson, Andrea Aromaz, Jason Ricciardi, Danny Hoeft, Andrea Zamora, Reina Walters, Stephen Ernst, Elly Clement, Rebecca Llamas! Everyone thank you for spreading the It’s Alright video around. We really love that song and want everyone to hear it. I really appreciate you guys spreading the word!
OK, on to Week 10 and if you saw the message I put up yesterday I just want to say no… no one is fighting. I mean yes I might be into a fight club type of thing but I am PMSing pretty bad this week so maybe that’s why I’d be into a big giant fun fight. No I am not promoting fighting but ladies if you are having a month where your PMS is out of control let me tell you, all you need to do is find a set of drums and bang the shit out of them. It is remarkable how much better you feel afterwards. And gentlemen…. if your lady is PMSing real bad don’t be a dick. Go get that girl some chocolate! Fuck I am off topic. Sorry. So this week we are giving away the guitar we smashed in the Cameras video. Matt and I have signed it. Don’t worry we cleaned the Chinese food off of it. All you have to do is email screamteam(at)mattandkimmusic.com with the word GUITAR in the subject line and we’ll randomly pick someone.
Hope you guys are enjoying these weekly giveaways. I do appreciate you all being part of our Scream Team. Let’s make these last few weeks count. Have a great day and week. I’ll be talking to you guys next Monday!!!
Big hugs kim
